In My Life, There are Moments

Thanks for visiting my blog, I have been remiss in regular posts for awhile, I apologize. When things are happening I pull into my shell a bit.

I will likely post some information about Live Kidney Donors in the near future. It is interesting I hope for you, and you never know if you or someone you love may need a kidney donation.

Startling to some I know, but if you pause and think about it “what if someone you love needed a kidney and you could save their life, and ostensibly your life would not change?” – or perhaps it is easier to consider this “what if you needed a kidney to live, would you accept a kidney from someone?”  Is your answer the same?

In My Life
There are places I’ll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I’ve loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know

This song is well known, and it is to me like abrook that melodically courses through my mind and emotions. Does it affect you that way?

I wanted to write a post about moments. Life is about moments isn’t it? Do you remember days when memory pops up? or do you remember a moment, a phrase, an instance?

I think most of us are “moments” people, I am. When I think of family, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and acquaintances I never remember whole events especially. I remember moments and I recall stories that go with those moments.

Grandpa & Grandma

I have an uncle that I visited as a young man on my grandfather’s farm. I was a skinny kid from Vancouver, and naive what farming was all about. My grandfather, and uncle made helping them fun. I remember the cow mooing in the morning, my grandfather’s chuckle as he explained that he was late, and the cow was telling him to hurry up. I remember my grandfather’s chuckle at other times also, like when he was pulling other tractors from the mud and his big tractor bucked and slipped in its task.

hay-bales-2I remember my uncle bouncing bales of hay off me as he tossed hay up on a trailer in the field, and then him tweezing slivers from my hands that night.

Moments form the stories we remember, and that’s what it’s all about. When it’s all said and done, there will just be some stories and hopefully there will be lots and they will be happy.

Making happy moments and more stories to leave behind, there is not much else.

If you liked my post, I hope you will take a moment to leave a comment. Have a great day.

It is so important to consider organ donation & equally as important to discuss your wishes with your family so they understand what your wishes are.

For us Canadians, we can register through following this link:

Life is full of those moments you speak of David. Moments filled with life’s most memorable tidbits, whether they are happy or sad, carefree or challenging, they impact us each & every day.

Lovely to hear from you my friend.

  3. consider a “life moment” like your own pearl. We go through life making these moments & in the end we have such a beautiful necklace as unique as a snowflake.
One never truly knows what they have ……until it is gone, but our moments stay with us like a good friend.

Well said Dave I love the words in that beetles song. Certain things in ones life que in these memorable moments depending on what it is your doing or what your feeling at the time. We all need to take the time to ‘live in the moment’ and step back from our busy lives and really recognize these moments as opportunities to feel and appreciate all these memorable moments in our lives as treasures from our past …. Thank you for sharing this 💕

Great job this edition! You are so correct that having loving families and friends is so important to us all. And certainly health matters, and for that I commend you in keeping up the personal fight that you are waging, along with keeping up the encouragement of rounding up organ donors.

Proud of you Dave, big time!

Thank you for these thoughts. End stage renal disease is a serious situation and in the last 7 months a few of my fellow patients have succumbed and it is sad.
I am hopeful and cheered on by family and friends who undertake to know and understand the 7 day a week situation that renal failure is.
Big hugs and love Uncle Ken!
