I started this blog at first to share about the Okanagan valley, and especially the small city where I live, called Penticton.
Gradually I have added other categories to share my random thoughts, music related posts, information related to Toastmasters International, and other posts that I hope others will enjoy, read, and share with others.
My goal is to provide my reader with something that adds to their day, in a positive way.
My motivation is to have fun while doing something interesting, and educational for myself but appreciated by others.
I’ve been married for 40 years to a beautiful wife, and have a super son and wonderful daughter that are never far from my thoughts. I have been a Toastmaster since 2006, and had a successful kidney transplant in 1987 which lasted until 2018. After 9 months of dialysis I was blessed with a new kidney transplant in April 2019.
My hope is to connect via blogging to you my readers. If you follow me, make comments and smile occasionally when you read my thoughts and share your smile- then my attempt will be not in vain. God bless you.

Greetings! Hopped over from Susie Lindau’s party to say hello. I see you’re just north and east of me a bit. I’m about 90 minutes drive south of Vancouver (in the US). Looking forward to reading about your beautiful area.

That is so nice of you to share. My son & I may have even passed through that area on our way to Seattle for a Mariners game. We were there this spring for opening game; it was a hoot with a red carpet for the team when they came out. Thank you for checking out my blog, and I hope you take a holiday up in my neck of the woods some time.

Hi David,
You got me on “the old dog CAN blog” whatever your content I’m following. And blog- you have been for five or six years. I like your reasons for the blog and look forward to exploring more over the next few weeks (while I am on holidays though I may have an enforced week of no blogging because I am travelling to Tasmania with my sister and Mum who live interstate.Note to self :Get ready for cold turkey. Not sure what the internet will be like either BUT I am taking my lap top). We have a few things in common, age demographic I suspect and years with the one partner, kids and loving where you live.
I love your header photo of the Rainforest Leafy area. I look forward to exploring your part of America and more. Now where has that follow button disappeared to? Louise

Hi Louise
You gave me a big smile. I look forward to hearing from you and chatting with you. I am researching for a speech on a historic person. I have been learning about Cleopatra but am also interested in Houdini and Mark Twain.decisions decisions 😊 All legendary. Travel safely! Talk soon!

Wow that’s something I am interested in too. Nothing formal but my old job involved a little bit of public speaking. if you do Mark twain you must mention his quote “I sent you hundred words. if I had more time I would have sent ten. ” or maybe it a thousand and then 100. I like the intent though that it takes more time to write fewer words.

Dave, We have a few friends in common as I can see from your commenters. will you be dressing up as that historic figure when you do your talk? If so, then I vote for Cleopatra. Clare

Myself as Cleopatra? I never thought about it. No need for costume for my speaking fortunately. My most recent speech was about Harry Truman, the US President in 1945. The speech topic was controversial but certainly I had everyone’s attention. I can see you are a writer with your imagination!

I try. I am also a baseball fan (I noted the background in your picture) but have never been out to Seattle. I’ll have to put that on my list. I liked Give ‘Em Hell Harry. Good choice!

Thanks, Dave, for your recent visit. I’ve browsed your blog and enjoy your topics and writing. I know The Santa Maria Della Grazia Church in Milano. In the 1970s I lived a block away and visited The Last Supper often. Yes, quite faded, however beautiful! 💛 Christine

Hi David,
For the past couple of weeks we’ve been writing about how we’re simplifying our life – and we invited you to share your thoughts on the subject. The response was wonderful! Thanks so much.
We loved reading your real-life experiences and have included them in our next post with a shout out to you and link to your blog. It will be published next Monday, July 29.
Thanks again. You made our day!

We need some positive and inspiring thoughts now as the UK lurches into more chaotic politics. I decided when I retired to live in a beautiful place and visit beautiful places. Blogging helps that too as no need to travel too far but your neck of the new world looks worth a flight.

Hi Dave, Hope your new kidney is doing well. Love the quote at the end. My daughter always say “You do you Mum”. Louise

My kidney is doing better than the doctors hoped for. It was a miraculous match, found 8 years faster than they expected/hoped as I had only a 1% chance of finding a match. That’s why I say a miracle, plus an amazing friend donated a kidney to someone in Ontario so that a kidney could become available for me. I am so grateful, and blessed. My friends are amazed at how much better I look.

Hi Sandra, my apologies for worrying you. I have been enjoying the wonderful weather and taking extra time to exercise. I have been hiking up Giant’s Head mountain every two days it’s 3 kilometres up a steep trail and 3 back and it takes about two hours or a little more as we usually rest a few minutes at the top before heading down. Also my wife and son are laid off due to Covid so I am soaking up the extra time with them and picking cherries off our tree. In two days my father is going to drive and visit, and I will be focusing on him. I enjoy your blog and videos so much and also I feel a closeness to you and your husband because I believe my wife and I and you and your husband would have a lot in common, starting with faith. Best wishes to you. Thank you so much for reaching out. – David

So good to hear David, my first thoughts you might be ill, but then I thought you are enjoying family and hiking. Sometimes you have to take a break from the computers and just get back to nature. I have been doing that also. I don’t even open the computer on Saturdays anymore. And barely look at it on Sundays. I am glad you are well and enjoying life. Have a wonderful week.
