That’s some spicy a-meatball !

When you swim in a creek and an eel bites your cheek – that’s a moray!

If the video is missing as it seems sometimes apt to do then, try “refreshing” your screen or try this – http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16tq7_dean-martin-that-s-amore-1953_music

There was a crooner! Dean Martin was definitely a classic with his talent and oozing charm.  He could really sing but his talent was to look so natural, and to make you feel like you were celebrating a happy occasion.

Didn’t the Lady and The Tramp have this song as part of the Disney soundtrack? It would fit into the movie so well. Can you remember the two dogs having their spagetti dinner and sharing that noodle, bumping noses, and Tramp giving her the meatball.

What chivalry. (smile)

I hope that this song stays with you today, and causes a smile to meander across your face.

You may have noticed that I love classic personages i.e. John Wayne, Nat King Cole, Jack Benny, W.C. Fields but whom would  you nominate?

That's a Roma!

Have an amore day wherever  you are!

You won’t believe me but…..

Nat King Cole – L-O-V-E

Dailymotion – Nat King Cole – LOVE – Music Kanalı.

You won’t believe me but this is a great song to jog to.  Wipe that smirk off your face! It really is true!

If you memorize the words there is a nice beat to follow when you are jogging. I often sang this to myself as I jogged along albeit always alone, and usually in the dark. I never got tired of this song, as it made me smile and I think I sang it acceptably.

If you don’t believe me, memorize it and then try it on a slow jog around the block. Oh ye of little faith ~ I kid you not!

Sunshine on a cloudy day

turkey 2004

I have tried to write a blog today but I find myself in too serious a mood. I have been blessed by some very real conversations with friends and acquaintances.

Safeco's best fielder! Mariners vs NYY

I found them encouraging, and a reminder to count my own blessings. I had a wonderful day yesterday as I was reminded of many small things that I enjoy. Like looking in my son’s face as he gives me a salad he made. Like my wife hardly using my name, just using other things like sweetie, even when she is having a tiring day. Like my daughter calling me Dad, but it feels like a hug over the phone.

Like a breeze to a shut in, these are the little things that make my day wonderful.

Toastmasters & Trooper

Lakeshore Drive and Okanagan Beach on Okanagan...

Besides alliteration – what’s the connection?

Toastmasters International is having a conference May 5, 6, and 7 in Osoyoos, BC during the Spring Wine Festival.  If you attend the conference, you will have fun, be challenged and have a great time.

If you don’t attend the conference, think instead of joining a local Toastmasters Club. Do you want to better yourself? Are you working toward a better job, a better future, or do you want to join with someone else so together you grow?

My suggestion to you is to attend a meeting as a guest this week. If you need help finding a Club, I volunteer to assist you. If you look on the internet you can’t help but find many accolades to the benefits of Toastmasters International.

Still waiting for the connection to Trooper? I just think they are a fun band, plus they will be here in Penticton, BC this summer during Peachfest (August).  If you remember the 70’s – drop on by!

Today & Tomorrow – What inspires you?

I watched the news yesterday. It was full of images of fighting in Libya, rifles, blood on rocks, tanks, and anticipation of more while the world worries and decides their response. I know it isn’t just Libya, many countries in Africa have dictators who viciously respond to any unrest with violent putdowns. It was sad television.

Then I received an email from my friend who is an ESL  (English Second Language) teacher and she told me of her inspiring students.

My friend’s email [Quote] – I just finished a class in which we were wrapping up our discussion of a novel, The War Between the Classes.  Quite a powerful story about a class of grade 12 students who engage in an experiment where randomly assigned armbands represent staus, power, wealth, “whiteness”….you get the idea.  Some have all of these assets; some don’t.  This experiment actually was done in a social studies class in the U.S.  At any rate, my students loved the book.  At the very end, I gave out the lyrics toImagine“…..with a few words missing so it’s a listening/fill in the blanks exercise.  They listened to the “Glee” version of “Imagine” a few times, wrote in the missing words then wrote what they thought about the concept of imagining that the “world will be as one“.  So here’s the visual…In my class I have kids from Iran, Afghanistan, Argentina, Taiwan, China, The Bhutan, Russia, Korea, Mexico, El Salvador, Hong Kong….and more.  They were totally in the moment.  Some started to sing.  Some days I can’t believe I get paid to do something this much fun!”

Imagine sung by John Lennon is below – there is a long silent walk at the beginning before the song starts.  Symbolic?

The Nylons – Up On The Roof

YouTube – The Nylons – Up On The Roof Official Video.

Wonderful sound of blended voices. I heard them once at the Kelowna Community Theatre – row 6. I sang along to all the songs. What entertainment that was.

Do you have a favorite group or song that you saw live?  look forward to hearing who it was whether classical or heavy rock. Would you go see that group again? or have you mellowed?
