August 1, 2011. I was just sitting in the back yard enjoying the quiet, calm and peace. It seems that everyone is quietly recouping from a busy long weekend of activity.
We bbq’d salmon on pine boards, accompanied by baby potatoes, corn on the cob, and zucchini. A special mention to the home baked rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream – mmmmmmm,
The day started really with a short excursion to Elephant Island winery in Naramata. I must have tasted 7 wines, and finally bought a bottle but will likely head back soon to get a couple more that really were tempting, Stellaport, and Framboise. Elephant Island specializes in fruit wines, and you don’t do your tastings standing at a bar. NO! You set outside in the shade and relax, looking into the orchard all around you. They even encourage you to bring your picnic and have it in their tasting area, undoubtedly you will buy a glass of wine to enjoy, why not?
This weekend enjoyed two days of tennis, playing crib, playing Yatze, and my beautiful daughter Mandy & her handsome hub, Tyler.
It was a fine weekend, with smiles, pictures, laughter, and exercise and it was with family -the ice cream on my cake!
