This is not my scenery today. Today I am surrounded by smoke, in fact I have been for 24 hours. Many places in BC, Washington, and California are dealing with second hand smoke of the worst kind; forest fires.
Sadly the losses go much beyond wildlife, and trees but homes and even lives are being lost due to fires fanned by winds.
I normally can stand on my balcony and enjoy an Okanagan sunset but today I will enjoy one shared by another blogger.
He is another Canadian and he lives in a small town like I do, Tofino, but I’ve yet to shake his hand. I certainly hope to shake his hand someday.
I have however enjoyed his images of birds, whales, fishing boats and much much more. I enjoy them immensely and recently this post of sunsets and a heron (see the link below) especially resonated.
Maybe it will for you also.
Smell the salt air, see the eagles soar, and perhaps close your eyes for a second and feel the ocean breeze.

My thoughts and prayers for all who are in the path of those fires…..to the fire fighters and their families 🙏
