I wonder if everyone has songs buried in their subconscious.
A little bump, a phrase in a conversation and a song springs into my mind – all the way through the cobwebs. ♥
A song that really represents for me the Seventies is this song from the 1974 called “Signs” by Five Man Electrical Band.
[Verse 3]
And the sign said, “Everybody welcome. Come in, kneel down and pray”
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn’t have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, “Thank you, Lord, for thinkin’ ’bout me. I’m alive and doin’ fine.”
Wooo!
Of course that song brought back a memory.
When I was young, my family tented and at one campground my family met a young man who traveled in his VW camper.
That old VW camper of his was hand painted on the outside to his whimsical sense of style. It had bright yellow bumpers, hand-made bumper stickers with sayings like ” Insured by Mafia Mutual” and a really cool sounding “AH-WOOGA” horn. (sorry no photo).
He used to visit my parents now and then. I still remember him picking me up from high school and giving me a ride home and playing that aw-wooga horn.
Flower power, peace signs, that was the Seventies !
Even if YOU missed the 70’s – you may like the message of the Five Man Electrical Band.
Peace OUT !
For me, this song “Signs” will always make think of that VW bus and those bright yellow bumpers.

It is funny how a song can bring back a memory or a memory reminds you of a song. I am now going to listen to this entire song I love it and always have it has a lot of meaning behind it. I think I will probably be singing it in my head for days lol.
