Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary! May you have many many more!
Your Susan did a great job. I may try her recipe one of these days, it sounds delicious 🙂
In your name I had a slice of Brazilian carrot cake. The Brazilian carrot cake is a yellow cake with chocolate fudge frosting…so yummy!
    Blessings! ♥♥

Congratulations! I can always tell when reading your posts how much you are enjoying and appreciating your new healthy life! I would celebrate with you, but I have no cake or anything sweet here as on the last grocery store run the shelves were empty of all baking supplies……

Hi Dave, I’m so glad you had your 1 year anniversary of your kidney transplant today!!! Congratulations!! As I was enjoying my frozen Chocolatey Peanut Great Value treat after dinner tonight on our deck watching the sunset, I was amazed at how wonderful it tasted. Now I know why, it was sprinkled with the joy of your reaching your 1 year anniversary, even though I wasn’t aware of it at the time. I am grateful that you have hit this milestone and for facebook for letting me know. Peace to you, Susan and your family.

Sorry to have missed your celebration, David. Yesterday was one of the few days recently when I didn’t eat cake! But I did have apple crumble and custard. Will that do? It was awfully nice, and not too sweet! 🙂 🙂 My husband has only one kidney. Removed in his twenties as it apparently was malformed at birth. I very often forget about it.

Dear Jo, Apple crumble – that sounds delicious. Funny thing I was remembering when I was a carhop, people used to come in and order apple pie with a slice of cheese. They loved it. That was a new idea to me. – David. I hope that your husband’s kidney stays healthy and he gets it checked occasionally just as a precaution.

Congratulations. I ate a mango which I know as a fruit is a treat for those with kidney issues. The mango is the King of all Fruits and its brief appearance makes summer bearable. Take care.

I love fruit salad although I don’t eat too much cantaloupe as I have to be careful about too much potassium. Fresh fruit salads are delicious, better than candy. Thank you for your congratulations message Ayesha. Very nice of you to take the time. I am very happy to be enjoying excellent health again, and it seems it’s only when you have had a scary health experience that you really appreciate the treasure that good health really is. – David

Oh yes! My grandfather has been a dialysis patient for nearly 7/8 years now, so I’ve become somewhat of an expert in the art of caring for dialysis patients haha! 😂👍
I’m hoping and praying that you have many more milestones like this! It’s very thoughtful of you to individually reply to your comments!

  19. What a wonderful anniversary to celebrate! Thank you for sharing it will all of us. As a diabetic, sweet treats are saved for ‘special occasions’, which celebrations like this are. So I treated myself to a ‘single serving’ bag of dark cacao M&Ms. Thank you for my indulgence!

I am two days late in saying happy anniversary, David; I’ll bet this has been a year of thought and discovery! (I look forward to reading about that.) But I am happy to report I made a double chocolate bundt cake this morning; we’re moving dinner up because the boyos in my house are circling that cake hungrily…

I am also copying down Susan’s ginger cake recipe; that sounds differently delightful.

It’s great to meet another ‘old dog’ in the blogosphere, and I look forward to reading your archives and your upcoming posts.

    All the best,

    Pam

Chocolate cake sounds and tastes great anytime. Thanks for your comment, now I feel like we have met. I like the old dog description. I think it is cool that we can make blog connections all over the world. It sounds like you live in a warm climate in the USA, my valley in canada has all four seasons and we are late headed into spring right now. I hope you will share your suggestions for my writing, and a piece of cake. – David

David, we’re in southern Ohio, which is still a four-season area, but considerably warmer than our childhood homes near Buffalo, New York… My family used to enjoy visiting Niagara Falls, Canada, annually, and taking other Canadian day trips, etc., when I was growing up.

I agree; one of the best unforeseen benefits of blogging has been the connections firmly made. I look forward to getting to know you through your posts!
