Do You Know What Day It Is?

Welcome back to “Life and Random Thinking” ! I say welcome back because I am very grateful to the people who visit my blog on a regular basis and I know my readers have a plethora of choices for the use of their time.

Today is National Banana Day !

If you are feeling a little overwhelmed, then today is the perfect day to ” GO BANANAS” ♥.

If you don’t have a banana costume, you could celebrate with a fun Banana Cocktail or a banana split.

Bananas arrived in North America in 1870 when Captain Lorenzo Baker brought bananas he had bought in Jamaica to sell in Jersey City, USA.

Bananas are possibly the most widely consumed fruit in America – the average American eats 30 pounds a year (that’s surprising!).

I did not eat bananas at all from about 1986 to 2019 when I new kidney transplant allowed me to eat them again. I eat one a day now!

Everyday on the calendar is National “something or other” AND I found it quite interesting to look up my birthday and find out it was “Body Language Day” amongst other things. (October 7)

Of course we all want to celebrate “Talk like a Pirate Day” – September 19, 2022. Pirate was definitely my Halloween favorite growing up but all I said was ” Trick or Treat.”

(I am super curious what you find out!)

– Last thought – Friday is April 22 and Jellybean Day – you can celebrate with any that you have left over from Easter.

Comments are invited and that’s when I look to responding directly with you ♥ – David

I’ll take the jellybeans over the bananas anyway, David! I just looked my birthday up and there are two excellent “holidays” observed on my birthday: Do Nothing Day and Religious Freedoms Day!! 😊

  5. As it happens, I had a banana today, not knowing that it was National Banana Day. I looked up my birthdate thanks to your link, and the first line said, National Workaholics Day. Hmm. That was followed by National Bikini Day. Double hmm. But then things improved with National Apple Turnover Day 🙂

WE have grown used to having bananas being available all year round. Today the selection provided in local grocery supermarket were disappointing. They tasted odd. Are we being spoilt for taste?

I have noticed some smaller bananas lately in some stores but I suppose it depends where the bananas originated. I try now to buy lots of bananas so some get soft then my wife makes banana bread! Yay! Thanks for reading and commenting James ! – David

  8. I can ignore all of the chocolate at half price the day after Easter, but I grab all of the bags of Jellybeans. That half-off price makes it worth throwing out the yucky black ones!

This post is just too much fun! I had no idea there were so many claims on each day of the year. My birthday is August 18 and I am claiming both National Fajita Day and National Ice Cream Pie Day. Now doesn’t that sound like a great combination–dinner and dessert! I am so happy for you that you can eat bananas again, and that you appreciate the blessing of them!
