11 moving images from 9/11 submitted by people around the world

reblogging this post because of the images shared which are not too blunt. I always think of this day with a shudder as imagine the people above the flames, or jumping to certain death. My sympathies to the thousands who remember Sept 11, 2001 everyday because the hurt is so close to their heart.

8 Reasons to Love Honolulu

Excellent post, this post has me rethinking my aversion to returning to Honolulu as clearly there is more to be discovered. Nice photos, and written with style, and interesting vocabulary.

Honolulu from Diamond Head

Whenever we’ve asked for advice about where to go in Hawaii, whether for this latest excursion or one twenty years earlier, we invariably hear the same suggestion: skip Honolulu. It’s a place where the conventional wisdom has travelers stopping only long enough to catch a connecting flight to some other, presumably better, Hawaiian destination. We’re told Honolulu is too crowded; too touristy; too developed; too this or too that.

That’s too bad. Because what we found in Honolulu is an island city with almost too many great things to count. That won’t stop us from trying, though. We love Honolulu, and here’s our abbreviated list of reasons why you should too.

Diesel – the Cat in the Stacks

What are you reading these days? Who do you recommend to your reader friends?

Miranda James - Cat in the Stacks mysteriesI enjoy relaxing and reading, and yesterday I continued my exploration of a new author, Miranda James – the author of the Cat in the Stacks mysteries.  I have already read two of the series, so far, read one of those books yesterday.

Excellent short mystery novels, the narrator in the novels is Charlie Harris, the owner of Diesel, the Cat in the Stacks (library books).  Charlie is a widower who along with Diesel, the oversized Maine coone cat happens across homicides and solves them. Diesel is his companion, and the balm that soothes hearts, and opens the doors.  No gushing wounds, and gory details,  warmly written and endearing stories that draw you, the reader, into the books in Athena, Mississippi USA.

Take a Risk, Take A Chance, Make a Change

This post is about ” taking a risk, making a change” – having an adventure!

Every journey starts with one step forward. I’ve been on a hiatus from the blogasphere for good reason. I’ve embarked on a new adventure along the road less travelled. But let’s rewind to the point of where my conundrum first began. Have you ever sat at work, staring blankly at your computer screen thinking “there’s gotta be more to life than this?”

I left my last job almost 2.5 years ago. After 7.5 years in a marketing role, I knew I had reached a dead end but I also longed for something different. After a three week trip to Egypt, I came back refreshed with every intention to look for another job. But as I searched and prepared for potential interviews, my heart wasn’t in it…..something felt so wrong. It hit me hard like a tonne of bricks…. I was lost and disillusioned.

I had reached a crossroads and for…

Don’t try to fix it? But I can fix it!

Sand dollar in Parksville

Sand dollar in Parksville

I really enjoy this video which hits the nail, pardon me,  is right on target on explaining what happens sometimes when guys try to listen.

Okay, I don’t have any authority to speak for 2.5 billion guys, I got it. Speaking only for myself, I like to fix problems, especially if I consider it my job.

My job is to fix, lift, tote, fetch, carry, open, close, pull, replace, cover, empty, fill, wash, replace, cook, wash, and other related duties.

dave sr youngLadies, do you want us to listen or fix? Since you must know we like to fix, maybe you should talk to someone who just wants to listen when you don’t want us to act? Or, I say this only in fun, just talk to us when we are watching sports, because then we can say “uh huh, and uh huh” and everyone is happy.

Otherwise give us the talk when you know what you want us to to do, you know we want to do something.

Just fill us in on the action part for us, that’s where we are focused anyway. A list is always helpful.

Guys watch your sports,  Ladies watch your reality dating show – and everyone meet in the squared circle, no low blows.

Of course I’m listening!
