YouTube – Handstands to Bruises by Chairlift with Tara Stiles

one hand handstand

I love this youtube video, fun, cheerful, musical and different. I don’t know either the group or song but it’s cool (and I’m ancient).

Do you love the music ?

Not ready to try handstands on concrete in New York but an upbeat, fun, video ~ I’d give this a ten! I think it is so cool that people make their own videos, add music and are so darn creative.  I bet you will start to jive to the music if you listen/watch it twice!

Spring is here, at last, and just in time forSages in the Desert”

I can feel the anticipation building, and the weather heating up! 🙂 It seems long ago that the conference was announced, and NOW it is less than a month away. The time is going to melt away before it starts!

Bursting!Sages in the Desert Conference will be a weekend of Toastmaster enjoyment. Combining educational and social, sauteed with entertainment and a dash of inspiring!  Sounds like good cooking to me!

Where is that Chicken Hawk?

A winning event takes people like you and me, and volunteering makes the event extra special. Join in , I am getting involved as a volunteer. It gives me a sense of ownership to the conference, it’s mine ~ plus I meet some other volunteers.  Make sure you check and see if you can help out – hint hint.

(click the  purple hint hint to volunteer just a smidgen of your weekend !)

Make certain this event is special for you by being a part of the winning ingredients 🙂

what color!

I love to talk about food anytime, can’t you?

Everyone seems to love this topic. So no wonder when I checked at the “Sages In the Desert” website and I saw the fine keynote speakers Rachel has planned for the conference,  my palate was tickled.

I LOVED the way Rachel (check out the link!) described the keynote speakers for the conference. The keynote speakers will be awesome, and I am looking forward to each serving of keynote speaker, every course ! !

I have a strong suspicion that everyone is going to love this menu and going to be wow’d at the conference.

Always On My Mind – Elvis or Willie?

Way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I was given my first stereo from my parents. It had two speakers and the turntable had a dome over it.  It probably looked like a biosphere off in space from a late night movie.

It came with my first album – Elvis Presley. Up until then I didn’t pay much attention to music but I have never forgotten those songs, and still remember some of them, including Always on my Mind. That was the “Separate Ways” album and I still have it.

Listen to these titles – Separate Ways, Sentimental Me, What now, What next, Where to? or I slipped, I stumbled, I fell.

Elvis recorded a lot of music and whether you like his version or Willie Nelson’s version – he was very memorable. Wham – I head for the sky!

What a Leader! In Dedication to Timothy M. Murray

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As a member of Toastmasters Club – I am privy to hearing inspiring speeches from fellow members.  The speech may be impromptu in a response to a Table Topics challenge or it can one of the Competent Communicator speeches.

Today I was the beneficial recipient of both kinds of inspiration and I am grateful.

I listened to a heartfelt speech #2 from a fellow Toastmaster, Derek. He shared a thoughtful insightful story dedicated to his former boss, Tim M. Murray, whom he worked with at Home Depot and the life lessons he gained from that five year relationship. This boss was a friend, a mentor, a teacher, and more, Tim lived his life with true integrity. Derek shared some of the life, and leadership lessons he learned from Tim.

Today my Club learned about 4 Qualities that make a great leader!

  • PASSION – Always do your best
  • EMPATHY – Listen to both sides and be prepared to listen and hear
  • DEDICATION TO CORE VALUES – not about core exercise, this quality is all about human decency, caring about and supporting others
  • LEADING BY EXAMPLE – not only by words, but actions.

Toastmasters provides an opportunity to learn and develop LEADERSHIP skills in hands-on, safe and supportive atmosphere. If you think Toastmasters is just about giving speeches, then you need to be a guest at a Toastmasters meeting and observe.

Guests are welcome !

Come prepared to laugh, to learn, and to meet inspiring people!

Learn the Laws of Positive Leadership at Toastmasters. 🙂

Toastmasters is fun, challenging, and inspirational and has been so since 1924!

Life is not a ‘Dress Rehearsal” – I was reminded today of what makes an Inspiring Leader, and the importance of sharing the lessons we gain in life and honoring special people in our lives.

That’s some spicy a-meatball !

When you swim in a creek and an eel bites your cheek – that’s a moray!

If the video is missing as it seems sometimes apt to do then, try “refreshing” your screen or try this – http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16tq7_dean-martin-that-s-amore-1953_music

There was a crooner! Dean Martin was definitely a classic with his talent and oozing charm.  He could really sing but his talent was to look so natural, and to make you feel like you were celebrating a happy occasion.

Didn’t the Lady and The Tramp have this song as part of the Disney soundtrack? It would fit into the movie so well. Can you remember the two dogs having their spagetti dinner and sharing that noodle, bumping noses, and Tramp giving her the meatball.

What chivalry. (smile)

I hope that this song stays with you today, and causes a smile to meander across your face.

You may have noticed that I love classic personages i.e. John Wayne, Nat King Cole, Jack Benny, W.C. Fields but whom would  you nominate?

That's a Roma!

Have an amore day wherever  you are!
