talk and Talk

John Wayne as Cogburn

It struck me yesterday the difference between how men and women interact.

I noticed this playing tennis with some women who needed a 4th person. In between games they interacted discussing clothes, shoes, and what not.

When I play tennis with my buddies, it’s friendly but they never discuss that stuff.  Some strategy between games, a little high five or verbal kick in the rear end THEN back to the next game.

I suppose that  men just socialize talking about projects, work, sports, and movies. Noticing what someone is wearing is not something macho men are supposed to do.

Too bad women seem to have all the freedom of friendships in North America. They can link arms and walk together; bonded in body and spirit ~ carefree. Topics of discussion seem wide open.

I wonder if men ever wish they were more like women regarding freedom to discuss everything under the sun.

What about gals? Perhaps some of them would prefer to be a tad more aloof and have more personal space? I can get that.

Sorry for the length of this youtube; but I hope you will enjoy it just the same.

Easy to cook Thai noodle dish

Dinner tonight: Red-curry-peanut noodles | Chatelaine.com.

When you get home, you want something easy but tasty, right? This link provides both.

I like this video and recipe because it is EASY, and SIMPLE.  So simple and quick, and not a lot of ingredients. I would use a different pasta, and if you wanted you could add more veggies for more color, or crushed peanuts but not needed either.

Check out the video, you might want to jot down notes and then come backand thank me.

I’ll be sitting right here, waiting.   …………… still waiting.

You don’t need lyrics

This is my second blog about Phil Keaggy. This alblum speaks more as you listen more. Some music is like popcorn and it fills you up but gives you nothing.

That is not Phil Keaggy. I hope you enjoy this musician and discover what I mean.

Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons, and you will find that it is to the soul what the water bath is to the body. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809 – 1894)

Just in Time – Paul McCartney to the rescue for Feb 14

This was the song that played incessantly in the summer of 1976. I remember turning it off by switching radio stations. It’s not Paul McCartney that I objected to, au contraire, I am and was a Wings fan. In fact “Band on the Run” is arguably one of my favorite albums.

No I think it was my age, I was 17 and romantic songs weren’t cool compared to songs by Thin Lizzy or Aerosmith.  Songs like “The Boys are back in Town” or “Toys In the Attic“.

So here I am three decades later, touting “Silly Love Songs” and wishing mushy romance to other reformed macho types.

Can you remember your favorite music from days gone by? Have your tastes in music changed?

Valentine’s Day- Forget fancy but don’t forgo Chocolate.

Valentines Day is nearly here!

Fight the panic guys. First ignore media’s sales pitch to buy diamonds – the payments are “forever“.

Chocolates are always an excellent choice. Thing of them as a side-dish to the main choice but make sure you get the right kind of chocolate, not every gal swoons over dark chocolate! Yes guys, it comes in white! Pay attention if she like domestic chocolate or european chocolate. But chocolate along with a card are mandatory and heaven help the poor schmuck who cheaps out here.

What about the spa gift?  Great idea but only if they use it. Did you know that 25% of gift cards never are used?

Think about what she would get for herself if you want to buy her something.

Are her swim goggles worn out? Does she need a new umbrella?

Or you could surprise her by polishing all her leather shoes; to show you care and she doesn’t have the time.

What about a long walk and talk? A nice idea especially if you give her a new scarf and gloves.

Does she commute?  An insulated mug so her coffee stays hot all the way there even in winter.

Forget about the standard formula when it goes to a gift. It comes down to being thoughtful. Vacuum her car and make it smell nice. A special tea, some tea light candles, and a book.  Show her you pay attention to her likes, and find a way to make her Valentines Day or “average” day just a tad nicer or easier.  You can take all the credit.

And to my family – I love you! You are wonderful!

This blog you should just close your eyes

If you have never listened to harpsichord music before ~ this is one that I particularly like and you should hear with your eyes shut. Twice!

I like this music when I am waking up in the morning and you will see why. It is light and lively and for some reason great for shaving to. (chuckle)

Do you love Classical music? Can you tell Mozart from Bach? Please send me your suggestion for another blog for closed eyes. Thanks!
