I was surprised by an email from WordPress which did congratulate me for having this blog 9 years. Wow! The time went quickly and in mentioning it to another blogger, she suggested I do a post on what have I learned in that time.
Nine years ago I launched this blog because of the passing of my Aunt Eleanor, and I decided to write about her, and how special she was. I had no idea I would still be writing 9 years later.
I think at the beginning I thought blogging was a bit like launching signals into space, and hoping someone heard you, and besides that I didn’t know what to anticipate.
I wonder if a quote from Captain Kirk would be appropriate –
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before. – Star Trek
Thankfully somehow I was noticed, other bloggers encouraged me and quickly I met online many amazing bloggers.
Most of my blogging time is actually visiting other bloggers, and commenting. Blogging posts are so varied, and so are the bloggers but they all have one thing in common, they have opened a window to their lives. They are a varied group of writers, and many of them spend long hours to create posts that are amazing.
In opening a window to my life to other bloggers and readers – I have benefited. I have benefited via laughter, learning, inspiration, and sharing.
I have also tried to return the encouragement and helpful comments to fellow writers.
In the beginning I was writing a blog, but 9 years later I feel like part of a community.
Nine years already? That was fast!

There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after. `~J.R.R. Tolkien
Congratulations on 9 years and many more to come! I find the blogging community so generous and up lifting. Cheers!

Wow, 9 years! Congrats on that! I, too, started a blog because I felt I had something I wanted to say. And I, too, quickly discovered that I’m getting an even greater benefit from listening to what other bloggers have to say. The positive vibes that float and flourish in this community are amazing!

I haven’t yet but I’d like to start. I go through a lot to get to a place where I can focus on other blogs but I really will try.
