Yesterday I stopped on a bridge on the north side of Penticton.
The golf course there looked lush and the light was perfect for a few photos.
I was wearing a red coat and when I pulled my phone out for a photo a hummingbird appeared out of nowhere (or so it seemed).
A beautiful hummingbird hovered two feet from my nose, probably checking out my red coat.
A split second and half later, he zipped away like some overgrown bumble bee. So no photo, I’m sorry. I had my camera in my hand, and still I was not fast enough.

Opportunities are often like that, blink and they are gone.
Fortunately not all opportunities for photos are like that, I was able to take this photo (below) and there was no chance it was going to get away. ☺

Thanks to the sidewalk artist !

Every time I hear the announcements over the store’s p.a. system, “we’re all in this together”, it makes my teeth hurt because it reminds me that I’m trapped in a grocery store with a bunch of twerps🤪

#thisiswhyIloveyou Those announcements must get annoying after the billionth time, pretty natural. How is Mollie?

Mollie is doing so much better! We are now at the stage of trying to find a solution to her allergy problems, since all that snot could have contributed heavily to her bouts with pneumonia. Until we see the doc, we’re going with 1/2 benadryl.

First, your photos are wonderful, I love the wide angle long look to the bridge. And yes, I have not gotton a photo of a hummingbird yet. They are so fast. But this dog video was the best, the person talking was so funny. Dogs are just as funny as cats sometimes. 🙂

Thanks Sandra, those photos are from the channel bridge that goes from one side of the golf course to the other. One photo looking north and one photo looking south. The channel links the Okanagan lake to the Skaha lake and is the length of the city, about 8 km or a little less. The channel was built after world war 2 so control spring melts and prevent flooding. Yes, I like that video also, the voice really pulls it together. – David

Those are some beautiful photos. When it comes to opportunities for taking photos, it’s mostly blink and miss.

Blink and Miss – that is neat! I like it. You could say that about living in the moment couldn’t you. If you don’t – you’ll blink and miss.

I experienced it with my son, that I share memories with people makes them more special. When it is family it makes it even more special because those are the stories that are shared, the stories that survive.

The Symbolism of a Hummingbird
An encounter with a hummingbird, or a depiction of a hummingbird, may simply be a coincidence, but may also indicate that Spirit wishes to communicate with you. When possible, take some time to sit after these encounters and reflect on what is being shown or taught to you. There are different ways of doing this, of course. Meditation, prayer, and journaling can help unlock subconscious understandings and connect you to Spirit as well as your own soul.
Hummingbirds often symbolize speed, flexibility, and dexterity. They also have a strong relationship with the flowers from which they consume nectar and pollinate. Your encounter may be a reminder that it is important to act quickly and to be ready to respond with a different approach if your first efforts do not succeed.
The relationship between these birds and flowers can also serve as a reminder that we must understand ourselves to be a part of nature. If you have been finding yourself spending too much time indoors or in your car, unable or unwilling to interact with the natural world around you, now would be a good time to make some changes. A walk in the woods, time in the garden, or even learning about local flora and fauna may be good for you right now.
