The secrets of Versailles

You’ll love this peek into Versailles and the life of Louis XV. Such a cozy little cottage for intimate gatherings of less than a thousand.

When planning my parents’ visit last weekend, we decided to spend our Sunday in the royal city of Versailles. Papa Ritournelle had the brilliant idea of signing us up for one of the château’s guided tours. This allowed us to discover the intimate life of the French kings by exploring the private apartments of Louis XV and Louis XVI followed by the Royal Opera. These are places you can not access with regular tickets so we felt privileged to be shown around these secret rooms!

Mon père avait eu la brillante idée de participer aux visites commentées du château. Elles permettent de découvrir les appartements intimes de Louis XV et Louis XVI puis l’Opéra Royal. “Everybody Out”

I liked this photo and insightful post. Take a moment to look at life in Greece. In Canada I read the paper and know people are striking but never knew how it affects people in a real sense.

The roughly cemented lane way, that masquerades as a road, in front of our house, throws up the voices of villagers that are standing in the street calling to each other in exasperation. Normally it is only the unwary who attempt to drive up the narrow stretch, lured by a promise of a view to die for or a visit to the saint’s cave. I have only attempted it once, being too lazy to park the car in the square below and drag the suitcases up the short steep hill to the front door. The car came to a standstill between the goat lady’s house and Gramataki’s side steps with millimetres to spare. Unable to open the door I tried to reverse and despite the frantic directive gestures of the priest, friends and neighbours, who had all been awoken by now, found it impossible to reverse the car down the…

Having Passion is the key to Success

You naturally agree if I ask you whether you want to succeed.  Naturally, and easily you agree. But if you have a passion for something then success will automatically follow.

The question is how do I develop a passion for something? What if I want to succeed but my heart isn’t in it?  Sherlock Holmes would say “Ah, there’s the rub”.

It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.’

Sherlock Holmes Quote

-A Case of Identity

Then I suppose you must develop  a passion or a vision for something that you do have a passion for. If you want to lose weight, but love to eat ~ no passion possibly. But what if you also have a passion for swimming, skiing, yoga, and success would enhance that passion.  There you have your key.

You must find your key to passion, your vision of what you love to do, and then the challenge to success will be in your hands. Simply wanting success especially when it involves work or denial requires  you replace that wanting with something stronger, like a passion for something you love.

I love it when people have a vision for what they want to succeed, a plan to get there, and a passion that drives them regardless of the hard work. Success is only sweeter when you know you earned it.

Big News for NHL coaches, We can see you!

Hunter Climbing Onto Bench

I don’t rant often but now the hockey season is over, I will voice my complaint about hockey.

It’s not the players salaries, it’s not the violence, it’s not the season which almost lasts until July. It’s the NHL coaches – I can see them, and so can everyone else because thanks to awesome high definition televisions, and great close up shots, I am subjected to every pouty mouthed comment they throw out on the ice.

Not only me, but 30 or 40 million other viewers get a live demonstration of the four word vocabulary of highly paid, and presumably knowledgeable sports leadership.

stop talking look smartEvery single game it seems the camera zooms in and everyone can read the coach’s lips – $%##$@ this, $#$@#& that, and over and over it goes.  How impressive, how manly, what great leadership, what great coaching, what a fine example for fans, budding coaches, and youth about sportsmanship.

Is it any wonder that fans copy that behavior and swear at referee’s, and act that way? I think an adult coach over the age of 21 earning annual salary like they do with 6 zero’s should be able to construct a sentence without @#$@$#$ in it.

In case they can’t, it would be better if the broadcasters just stopped showing the benches, why should this childish and boorish example be broadcast? If tennis players acted like that, something would be said.

If you’re a fan, if you enjoy sports, what do you think? Do you just tolerate it or ?

I expect NHL coaches to drop the sloped forehead act, pick up their hairy knuckles off the ice and act like they deserve their salaries, and that Darwin’s theory applies behind the NHL benches also.

Just my opinion. I still like hockey,  Keep it competitive, keep the action, but let’s have some coaches who act civilized, my apologies to the coaches who do have have style because they don’t all act juvenile.

Now I will just relax and enjoy Wimbledon, hockey is over!
