Wordless Wednesday – May 13

A few words please?

Last night before sunset it was raining hard, but then bright sunshine broke through!

I wish it had dawned on me more quickly that the rain was slowing down.  I dashed out side in my bare feet into the centre of the lawn.

I was in time to catch a glimpse of the rainbow which I was confident I would find.

The rainbow was beautiful, bright, vibrant, and rich. However, I had ran out unprepared and was caught without a camera. When I returned, albeit quickly, the colours were washed out, pale in comparison to 4 minutes before.

I learned a lesson:

When it rains, be prepared for a rainbow because the sun is still up there.

Room to Bloom

Flower, herb, and vegetable seeds were started

inside a few weeks ago and  it was time for them to leave home and grow on their own (as in a garden bed).

My good neighbour assisted and using his trailer to delivery soil  to bolster a new garden bed. Now we have two garden beds in the backyard.

Some of the new soil went into planters, and we have a variety of planters in the yard. Another six planters in the front yard on the balcony.

This year a few of these boxes have a just a few plants so they can spread or as my son said ” Room to Bloom.

Room to Bloom is a wonderful concept.

This concept I see in many blogs, including these three examples.

  • Some bloggers have made huge living changes to bloom.
  • Some bloggers have children who are starting to bloom and the parents are giving them room ( as in encouraging them in university).
  • I know of one blogger who is retiring and will soon have more time for growth, and blooming. (book writing, which I think is awesome)

I think when I heard this phrase I thought of how people and plants are always changing, growing and that involves space and encouragement. – David

Cloud at your feet

Today’s post is the 6th instalment of Ravi’s story.

The first post was Spread Your Wings .  After I wrote that post, the next two instalments (part 1 and part 2) were what happened the day Ravi left home.

Ravi left his parents home to go to a new city, a new life, a new job. In the 4th instalment, Cinnamon Buns & Peanut Butter, Ravi discovers the basis for successful relationship. In the 4th instalment, Ravi realizes that A kiss will tell

If you are just visiting, please enjoy the story from the beginning, Spread Your Wings Ravi.                                   Thanks for coming along. ♥ – David

Heart beating fast and his mouth dry, Ravi hesitated outside Marie’s bookstore.

When two people left the store, he took a big breath and walked in.

Mmmm patchouli, and he reminded himself to breathe.

Marie’s face lit up in surprise and happiness when she spotted him and she lightly flew through the book stacks to hug him tightly.

PB, I was just thinking of you and I …”

Ravi never let her finish, he leaned in and planted his lips lightly against hers. For just two heartbeats……. then Marie’s hands pushed him backwards gently.

Wait

Ravi mumbled “I thought …

I just needed to take a breath PB, you caught me off guard.  Now get back here  and let’s try again my dearie.”

This time Ravi’s eyes were closed long enough he forgot that he was even standing.

All his awareness was in CB’s lips and his hands on her back, and the happiness he felt bursting inside.

After a few seconds but seemed longer, they leaned back and their eyes were twinkling at each other.

I have to work now PB, so scoot! ” Marie planted a soft kiss on his nose, and smiled.

Marie blew him one more kiss as he closed the door and he grabbed it on the way out, smiling from ear to ear.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That’s amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You’re in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you’re not
Dreaming signore
‘Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That’s amore

Ravi had nearly walked a block before he realized he was going the opposite direction than going home.

Ravi’s face was beaming, and he was smiling like he had a secret he was dying to tell.

Unable to stop himself, he spun around around on the sidewalk, lifting his hands over his head and dancing back and forth like a boxer who had just won his bout.

Wahoo !  That’s Amore !

Wordless Wednesday May 6 2020

I woke up to rain this morning, and although my plans for the day are changed; the rain is very welcome.

The earth and the air are being refreshed, and our new plantings are being watered.

Today’s pictures are recent ones and I added captions for you.

Best wishes to you.  Thank you for visiting – David

Here Comes The Sun

img_0341

Around December 21st each year I go outside and do my little happy dance.  (Don’t watch, I dance like a cow on skates!)

I will be wearing my winter jacket, and my breath will be visible in clouds, but I dance anyway because I am celebrating.

I am celebrating “Over the Hump” day – Winter Solstice. In Canada that day is December 21st. It could be called “Here Comes The Sun” day ♥

Now the daylight hours will begin to grow ! 🙂

What is winter solstice?

winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky.

Regardless of the snow on the driveway, and months ahead of cool mornings, I know that that every day will start to have more daylight, and less darkness.

Winter doesn’t disappear in December at all, cold days are still ahead. I may even have to shovel snow in January and February but my optimism is firm.

For a long time I can see hardly any visible difference in daylight in the mornings or evenings but in my heart I know the process of change is happening.

I can feel my optimism growing like a seed in the earth.  That optimism seed was planted in December, invisibly it grows below ground, but soon it will peek it’s head above the ground.

Then it happens! There is a more light outside when I wake up in the morning.

In the afternoon there is more light when I sit down to supper.

Spring and summer are on their way!  Here Comes The Sun   ♥

Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles

Here comes the sun (doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right

Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here

Here comes the sun (doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here

Imagine the dance we will do when the masks are folded and put away, when people can hug their friends without hesitation.

I think the Covid-19 winter is declining, there could be a few cold nights but don’t lose your optimism my friends.

I am believing we are  Over the Hump – Here Comes the Sun !

Spring and summer are coming, the seed are the ground, and soon will peek above ground.

It may still look like winter but my heart is singing anyway – David

A cup of Coffee and a book

img_1340

My morning today had a sunny beginning with one dear and another deer.  Of course I refer first to my dear wife Susan, and the second of the four-footed type, this deer was chilling in our neighbour’s back lawn outside our window. (love those big ears!)

Coffee in hand I dove into my email for a few minutes before some breakfast. One of the first was named to “A cup of coffee and a book” – from Restlessjo.

Restlessjo shared a link to a photographer friend, Sue, who has a series A Cup of Coffee and a Book. A neat idea for a series, don’t you agree?

I decided to join in, if you like coffee, photography, or books – take a peek or even better, say hello to Sue.

Here is my cup of coffee and books to add to the series, from my little spot on earth, Penticton BC.  – David
