Cold weather ahead – Winter is here !

Thank you sincerely for visiting my blog today – David

When I started this blog I thought it would be like those astronomers who broadcast a radio signal and hoping for a signal back from the cosmos. It turns out that the blogging cosmos is filled with wonderful and amazing people and they communicate !

Thankfully I have been encouraged by the kind followers here who visit and comment. (Suggestions are always welcome). My huge thanks to those marvelous people.

Winter Solstice has just passed and up until now the weather has been fairly mild. We have had two dumps of snow of a foot or so each time and only a few roads are icy. The temperatures have rarely gone below minus 12 Celsius though.

That’s all about to change. Since winter has officially arrived Mother Nature has decided to make sure we know it by bringing minus 24 weather next week plus wind chill. I hope it doesn’t last too long.

Today the temperature was plus 3 and I managed to sneak in a short bike ride before the roads got too slick after sunset.

We will dress warm for it and be fine. Maybe the cooler temperatures will assist in burning off some of the delicious Christmas baking, like Nanaimo bars, (click for the recipe) a Canadian invention. For medicinal purposes of course. ♥♥♥

Today I will share a variety of my photos from the last month. All are taken here in Penticton. I hope you will enjoy.

Merry Christmas ! – David

A recommendation if you have Netflix: Netflix’s Christmas special (30 minutes long) of Shaun the Sheep ! ( see photo below)

Thanks for the introduction to that decadent Canadian treat. It will take more than cold weather to make those calories disappear. Merry Christmas!

  4. I think about the folks in warmer weather areas and those in the Southern Hemisphere and how there are so many songs about winter wonderlands and snow and frosty windowpanes, etc. that they can’t really partake of! As long as I don’t have to drive in the stuff, I enjoy watching snow fall and the true crispness of the air when it freezes my nostrils on each inhale. Merry Christmas to you and yours, David, and wishes for a happy 2022!

There are so many wonderful moments to enjoy in the cold. When it’s really cold and snowing lightly you can actually see the snowflakes individually before they melt. They are the prettiest shapes. I am like you though, I do hate to drive in it! – Merry Christmas !

Christmas and holiday greetings from Scotland
I am sure you enjoy the snow on those dry blue days that allow you to appreciate the views. Snow goggles needed.
Nanimo Bars. they look similar to out ‘Millionaires Shortbread’. Shortbread base with caramel and chocolate topping.
Have a wonderful festive period in BC.

  9. Merry Christmas, Dave. It is indeed chilly here in the lower mainland, and snowy! We managed to make the drive out to Ladner to spend Christmas with my daughter, son-in-law, and our granddaughter yesterday. The snow started again as we were driving back but by the time we reached Burnaby, it wasn’t snowing at all and the roads were clear. Grateful for that. I hope you and your family had a happy Christmas!
