“We have coffee here” she said, “It’s a waste to go out.” she said, when her husband suggested they go have coffee.

“Come on” he persisted, trying to overcome the inertia, feeling restless as he tugged with his eyes.

“We’ll walk” he said as he locked the door.

At the end of the driveway, their hands automatically sought each other, naturally fitting together after all the years, all the walks, all the handholding.

He smiled, breathed deep and it was a good day. You could not tell from the weather but his heart felt lighter with her hand in his.

Can’t Take That Away from Me

No, no, you can’t take that away from …..me 🌻🌻🌻

blue sky Bruce walked down the path, just plain packed earth .  The path wound through a light forest,  absorbing his steps and so he moved silently.

Sunlight patches here and there were like stepping through hot wading pools at the ocean.  All around him, birds twittering and squirrels chirps but none of this smashed the peace and calm of his surroundings.

It was moments like these that Bruce recharged upon. The serene peace in the forest somehow lifting his spirits effortlessly, calming his thoughts. lifting up moments.

It had been three years since the funeral, all the stages of grief just speed bumps in his past. The memories of moments shared now had no sting, or not much.

Funny the little moments that tweaked his face into a grin. When they had a flat tire in the rain and she defused the situation with a song and dance while he changed the…

Just Breathe,

img_2130

My front yard cactus have flowers !

I went to my front yard this morning and the cactus are flowering,  and it reminded me of good advice.

Cactus are a hardy plant, and live in sometimes the worst conditions but they hang in there and manage to blossom. They just breathe and wait for better conditions.

I went to the wound clinic this morning, everything is improving on that front, and the young lady had a tattoo on her arm that reminded me of good advice.

My wound techie probably sees horrific wounds and has to deal with the healing process with someone over time and only seeing healing gradually.  They know patients must Just breathe and let the process go forward albeit how slowly.

A few weeks ago, I had minor procedure in the doctor’s office (I will spare you the details) and it was brief and I was reminded of some good advice under those circumstances.

When I was going through the office procedure I needed to stay calm as the discomfort was minor, I just needed to avoid being tense, and just breathe.

Today at the hospital renal clinic, I recalled a beautiful family trip and when I saw the coliseum and the Sistine Chapel – that same advice was applicable.

When I was on holiday, I was stunned to find myself in such beautiful and historic surroundings. I had to stop and just breathe, just breathe and soak in the memory. Just Breathe and be in the moment.

Under the worst and under the best situations, remember to just breathe.  That’s it, just remember to breathe.

Okanagan Lake at the North end of town, a peaceful morning.

Never stop,  under the worst, or the best situations.  Just breathe – Just breathe. It always is good advice.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Reader Input please – Name your Monkey

Dear Friends, Family, and Fellow bloggers,  You may already know I am one of those people who like to memorize songs and quotes.

It comes in useful in speeches or impromptu discussions. Not to say that I memorize whole speeches like the Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln. (Click here to learn more about Abraham Lincoln)

However, since I mentioned it,  I would like to point out that the Gettysburg Address was only 6 1/2 minutes long (only 271 words) so definitely possible to memorize it.

There were two speakers that day (Thursday November 19, 1863) and the other speaker spoke 10 times longer (actually 2 hours) than Honest Abe and the other speaker was quite famous at the time. However, it’s the Gettysburg Address we are aware of and it demonstrates the power of a brief speech. Click here to read more about the Gettysburg Address on Wikipedia

My mind has been remembering a fun Bing Crosby song “Would You Like to Wish On a Star. Full Lyrics click here

swing on a starThe lyrics are fun, and I enjoy the song memorization and singing it. It’s possible I am regressing eh?

All that to say one of the verses from “Wish on a Star”  is:

And all the monkeys aren’t in the zoo

everyday you meet quite a few

so you see it’s all up to you,

you can be better than you are…. you could be swinging on a star

As I remembered the last verse (above) I thought about the monkeys we meet daily in our lives and I wondered about yours.

Would you mind commenting on the monkeys in your world?  Pretty Please?

Some of the monkeys in my world I meet on the road. They don’t put their turn signals on until the light changes, they swing out left before turning right, they speed through school zones or drive on my bumper as I slow down for parks and schools.

Oy vey – don’t get me started.

stop sign

Stop In the name of Love

I would love to hear about the monkeys in your world, regardless thank you for reading this post and enjoy your day. – David

It’s been a long hard day, and I’ve been working like a dog

I think everyone missed this the first-time- so I hope you enjoy it today instead. Thank you for checking it out, singing is encouraged

Have you had a long hard day? or do you just like this song and recognized it right away? Did you start to sing it and did you smile?

electricThis post  is dedicated to my lovely wife, Sue. She puts in the long days, and I appreciate it.

She likes to come home, put up her feet, grab something warm to drink, and slump down onto the floor so she can watch TV and get her neck rubbed.  I get to sit behind her and watch TV while rubbing her neck. It’s nice because she likes it, but I love it. Instead of being detached watching, I feel more whole.

Funny how in life there are moments like those that hold such meaning and we get confused about their real value. Those moments are the ones to hold on to,  and I do.

2013-08-19 20.44.21I am grateful always for those moments, and will…
